It's Going Bad For Me I got a darkness running through my body. I feel the touch of something I can't see. Why does this happen? It makes me wonder. I got a feeling It's going bad for me.  And so I went  to see the Gypsy, 'Cause I was looking for a remedy.  She dealt the cards and shook her head slowly. I got a feeling It's going bad for me. A black cat is looking through my window. I look again, but it's just a shadow.  . It's getting closer every single day.  I'm having dreams that I can't explain.  Who's gonna save me from this awful pain? I raise my hands up to the holy heavens. Where are you now in my hour of need? My only answer A dreadful silence. I got a feeling It's going bad for me. It's going bad for me. © 2019 Bruce Lash All rights reserved.

The Rain 04:46
The Rain I can't pray anymore About the rain that ain't gonna fall. I can't stay anymore, If you won't answer my call. In the dark of the night Where do you find your light? Don't you know that it's true, That my light lives in you.  Now, Should I fan the flame, Or is this just a game You play To make the world go away? I can't pray anymore About the rain that ain't gonna fall.  I can't stay anymore, If you won't answer my call. Now that love has run dry, All I got are tears that I cry. If it's wrong, tell me now,  But I've got to get to you somehow.  Now, I could float up high, Drifting in the sky Above, Hoping you will want my love. But I can't stay, If you don't play. I can't stay, If you don't play.  I can't pray anymore About the rain that ain't gonna fall. I can't stay anymore.  No, you don't answer my call. I can't stay. You don't play. I can't stay. You don't play. © 2019 Bruce Lash All rights reserved.

Jumpin' in the Devil's Bounce House I was eating leftover lamb from a greazy plate. And a voice said, "Boy, that lamb can wait. It's time to go, get in your car. Down the road. It ain't too far. Put that pedal to the floor. It's just about a halfa mile more. Tell me, are you man or mouse? We'll find out at the Devil's Bounce House. Bwah ha ha ha..." I looked around. All I saw was red, From its pointy tail to its horny head. A beat up, low down carnival ride. The voice said, "Boy, now go inside, But before you do, take off your shoes. The Big Man don't take no excuse." And I'm jumpin'! Jumpin'! Jumpin' in the Devil's Bounce House! I be jumpin'! Jumpin'! Jumpin' in the Devil's Bounce House! I be jumpin'! Jumpin'! Jumpin' in the Devil's Bounce House Like I never be jumpin' before! I was jumping! I was flying! It was really terrifying! I was screaming! Am I dreaming? The bounce house lights were gleaming. Every bad thing I ever done Was pointed at me like a gun. I came to in an empty field, The ending of my life revealed. My legs were broke. My back was hunched. I really got my ticket punched. The house was gone, But I could smell That fiery sulfur straight from Hell. I couldn't think, but I knew then, That I would never jump again. But then the voice, it said to me, "You'll jump right through eternity." Jumpin'! Jumpin'! Jumpin' in the Devil's Bounce House! You'll be jumpin'! Jumpin'! Jumpin' in the Devil's Bounce House! You'll be jumpin'! Jumpin'! Jumpin' in the Devil's Bounce House Like you never been jumpin' before! You'll be jumpin'! Jumpin'! Jumpin' in the Devil's Bounce House! You'll be jumpin'! Jumpin'! Jumpin' in the Devil's Bounce House! You'll be jumpin'! Jumpin'! Jumpin' in the Devil's Bounce House! You'll be jumpin' forever more! Yes, you'll be jumpin; forever more! © 2019 Bruce Lash All rights reserved.

Hard Luck Street Once I had a life. Three kids and a wife. Went to work every day To bring home my hard earned pay. How could I have known That I would end up alone? And I would have to retreat Down to Hard Luck Street. This street is unkind. It makes me feel blind To the beauty I knew, But that life is through. Now my days are all gray, And they're drifting away, Like someone you'd meet Down on Hard Luck Street. I see only ground. Always looking down. I've got nothing to give. I've got nowhere to live. And it makes me feel sad For the life I once had. Now, if you should choose To walk a mile in my shoes, Look at the sores on my feet From walking down Hard Luck Street. I bow to defeat Down on Hard Luck Street. © 2019 Bruce Lash All rights reserved.

Sixteen Doses of Fentanyl It pains me now to have to say That when I read the news today, I struggle not to feel depressed and empty. So toss it to me, history Of just how good it used to be. This battle ground was once the land of plenty. It pains me now to have to say That I can't live on what they pay. Sometimes, I buy my meds, and I don't eat. So toss it to me, let's begin With sixteen boxes of insulin, And I'll describe a life that once was sweet. Where do you go when the sun is sinking low On all that shit they taught you as a kid? Freedom and democracy, And equal opportunity- These hollow words mean nothing like they did. Where do you go when the sun is sinking low, And everything you treasure disappears? When neighbors become enemies, Ignoring all civilities, Your legacy becomes a trail of tears. It pains me now to have to say That my America went away, Replaced now with this goddamn shithole country. So toss it to me, over the wall, Sixteen doses of fentanyl, And I will eat them Til I don't have any. Where do you go when the sun is sinking low On every happy thing you ever knew? So toss it to me, hear my call For sixteen doses of fentanyl, And maybe I will save a dose for you. © 2019 Bruce Lash All rights reserved.

I'm On My Way I'm on my way. I'm on my way back home. I'm on my way.  I'm on my way. I'm on my way back home. Won't stop on the way. Won't stop on the way back home. Twenty four hours on the interstate. I'm on my way back home. I'm on my way... Eating them reds. Flashin' on the steel and chrome. I'm on my way. I'm on my way. I'm on my way back home. I'm on my way... I'm almost there. Never shoulda left ya 'lone. I'm on my way. I'm on my way. I'm on my way back home. I'm on my way... I'm gonna stay. You never gonna see me roam. I'm gonna stay. I'm on my way. I'm on my way back home. I'm on my way... © 2019 Bruce Lash All rights reserved.

Every Day is a Saturday Night "Where's your wife this evening?" My bartender said to me. Well, I divorced number one. Number two's at home, And I just met number three. She's a real life true romancer, And, if I play my cards just right, I can make her laugh Like my better half, And she'll be in my arms tonight. I been sitting on this bar stool Since a quarter past two or three. And I seen 'em come, And I seen 'em go. They look just the same to me. Now, don't misunderstand me. You know, I might be a little tight. I've been up all night, day drinking. 'Cause every day is a Saturday night. I just like fun. I never hurt none no one. I'm as happy as can be. And if you like day drinking, You can drink right here with me. I don't care what time it is, Just as long as I've got mine, 'Cause I just love my liquor. Yes, it makes me feel so fine. "It's time for you to go now," My bartender said to me. "No, I will not pour.  You are on the floor And as drunk as you can be." So I settled up my bar tab, And I slipped on out of sight. I've been up all night, day drinking, 'Cause every day is a Saturday night. I've been up all night, day drinking, 'Cause every day is a Saturday night. © 2019 Bruce Lash All rights reserved.

Talk Therapy 03:34
Talk Therapy Standing in the sunshine, Thinking 'bout the pouring rain. Thought I had it licked, But I can see it's back again. Doesn't matter what I try, I can't seem to say goodbye To this ball and chain. See the good it do ya, Runnin' with the crowd you run. Doesn't even matter, Long as all the work gets done. Dig that hole deep, my friend, Then you fill it up again, And you be someone. Someone in my head has Put a hole right in my heart. He can still remind me Where I keep that hidden part. I could still remember dreams. It's not as hard as it first seems, If you know where to start. © 2019 Bruce Lash All rights reserved.

My Sweet Baby's Eyes Now we have come to the end of the day.  The shadows are long on the wall. She is ready for sleep, And as the fairy dust flies, I see the world through my sweet baby's eyes.  Far from the winds that make the world cold, Her blanket is fluffy and warm. As we quietly sway,  She neither fusses nor cries. I see the world through my sweet baby's eyes.  Turn 'round to see how the years will go by. Like horses, they'll gallop along. As she furrows her brow, It makes her seem wise.  I see the world through my sweet baby's eyes.  So much to do as she goes through her day, Laughing and dancing and all.  As the nighttime begins With the evening's reprise, I see the world through my sweet baby's eyes.  No, she won't remember this moment we share, But I'll carry it all through my life.  As I rock her to sleep, And the moon fills the sky, I see the world through my sweet baby's eyes.  © 2019 Bruce Lash All rights reserved.
